All one\’s geese are swans．把自己的鹅都说成天鹅。
在英美习俗中，geese一词含贬义，意思是“笨蛋”，而swan一般都认为是一种高贵而美丽的鸟。所以这谚语用goose与swan对比两种事物，指凡是自己的东西，即使实在并不好也认为是好的。
此句为了写得简洁，省略了一些词。完整的说法是：Everyone thinks his own geese are swans．
英文还有类似意思的谚语：
Every cook praises his own broth．
每个厨师都赞自己做的汤好。

王婆卖瓜，自卖自夸。
Every pedlar praises his own needles．
卖瓜的不说瓜苦。
这与中国的俗语“王婆卖瓜，自卖自夸”、“卖花赞花香”以及成语“敝帚自珍”等颇为相似。
